Rockland Community College Celebrates Diversity This Spring

Activities Highlight Women’s History, Irish and Jewish Heritage

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. (March 1, 2021) – Rockland Community College has an exciting schedule planned for March and April in celebration of Women’s History Month along with Irish and Jewish Heritage Months. The college has created a wide variety of activities and virtual programs to appeal to students and their families, faculty and staff. All events are free and open to the public.

“RCC has a diverse population and we are committed to highlighting the arts and culture of each special group throughout the year,” says Michael Baston, President of Rockland Community College. “This spring, Women’s History Month along with Irish and Jewish Heritage Months overlap so we will have special programs on almost every day through April 14.”

RCC will honor Women’s History Month with a series of virtual events celebrating women’s contributions, achievements and significant roles in shaping American culture and society. Topics include LGBTQ+ and racial bias issues, investment and career goals along with discussions on art, books and film. For more information:

Irish Heritage Month offers a “wee bit” of a glimpse into the traditions, culture and spirit of Irish Americans and their experience in American life and culture. Learn about Gaelic football and hurling, participate in a virtual Irish baking demonstration or visit a traditional Irish Coffee House without leaving home.  For more information:

Jewish Heritage has been celebrated at RCC every spring semester between Purim and Passover since 2008. This month-long series of activities is designed to promote awareness and appreciation of the Jewish heritage to the college community through presentations on music, film, lectures, hands-on workshops, discussion groups, book talks and more.
