Dr. Albert Lewis Jr.
Dr. Albert Lewis Jr. is an educational leader with extensive contributions to the field of higher education and workforce development. Armed with a Doctorate in Education specializing in Teaching and Learning, he has relentlessly pursued excellence in academia, spearheading transformative initiatives and inspiring change within the community college landscape.
With an impressive academic background including an Ed.D. in Education from Gwynedd Mercy University, an M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University, an M.Ed. in Education Administration from the University of Akron, and a B.A. in Speech Broadcasting from Marshall University, Dr. Lewis possesses a unique blend of expertise in education, psychology, and administration.
Dr. Lewis’s professional journey is marked by significant roles in several institutions. Currently serving as the Chief of Staff/Executive Vice President at Northwest State Community College in Ohio, he plays a pivotal role in the college’s strategic direction. His responsibilities include managing multimillion-dollar budgets and has overseen academic affairs, student affairs, workforce development, information technology, and grants. Dr. Lewis has successfully led the college through dynamic changes, including the implementation of a new strategic plan, reimagining the workforce division, streamlined processes, and established a diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative called Inclusive Brilliance: A Framework for Belonging.
Prior to his role at Northwest State Community College, Dr. Lewis served as the Vice President for Economic and Workforce Development at Bellevue College in Washington, where he led a team of dedicated professionals in expanding the institution’s outreach and impact. His innovative approach to community engagement resulted in the establishment of key partnerships with industry leaders, significantly expanding opportunities for students. This work culminated in Bellevue College winning the prestigious Job Creation and Workforce Development award from Seattle Magazine.
His leadership also made a significant impact at Moraine Valley Community College in Illinois, where he served as the Dean of Corporate, Community, & Continuing Education. During his tenure, Dr. Lewis secured substantial funding, expanded customized training programs, and developed innovative career pathways, creating valuable opportunities for students and local communities.
As a mentor and advocate for students, Dr. Lewis has played a crucial role in shaping the future of countless individuals. His passion for student success, coupled with his strategic vision and commitment to excellence, inspires both colleagues and students alike. In an era of rapid change in higher education, he stands as a beacon of transformative leadership.
