Gentle Giant Brewing Company, RCC and the Hudson Market on Main will host its third virtual beer and food tasting featuring four distinct brews and delicious Italian fare from Russo’s of Pearl River. For reservations, visit gentlegiantbrewing.com/rcc

A few days before the event, guests will be emailed the Zoom broadcast link by Rockland Community College. While the Zoom event at 7 pm itself is free, tickets are required for the beer and food tasting. One ticket provides enough for two people to enjoy; beer and food pick-up will be at the Gentle Giant Brewing Company, 7 North Main Street in Pearl River.


The menu includes:

Meatballs with Procreator Doppelbock—A full-bodied beer (8.4%) with bold malt flavors giving off notes of toasted bread, caramel and raisins, Doppelbock was originally brewed by monks to endure their fasts. This smooth dark “liquid bread” lager is guaranteed to keep you toasty on these frigid winter days.

Pepperoni Garlic Bites with RYEnoceros Rye Saison—Made with a base of pilsner malt, a touch of wheat, oats and some delicious rye malt, this Saison (5%) is fermented at a slightly warmer ale temperature making it bone dry and extremely crushable. In addition, it has been lightly dry-hopped with Motueka hops adding notes of freshly squeezed lime and tropical fruit to the flavor profile.

Fresh Mozzarell

a & Tomato (cold) with Saurolophus Blueberry Sour—A twist on Gentle Giant’s traditional wheat beer recipe, this version is conditioned with 150 pounds of blueberries along with a lactose addition in the boil kettle. Saurolophus (5.5%) gives off hints of fresh lemon, vanilla pods and juicy blueberries to provide a wonderful balance of sweet and tangy flavors.

Mini Everything Bagel Calzone with Gigantor Double New England IPA—Introducing Gigantor (8.6%), a hazy New England-style IPA brewed with a healthy dose of spelt malt contributing to a soft mouth feel and a sweet biscuit flavor. By ramping up the dry hops with Strata and Mosaic, this brew is redolent of ripe mangos, fresh sliced peaches and dank cannabinoids.
