Extraordinary Women in Nursing

Florence Nightingale was a prominent statistician in history and used her passion for statistics to save lives of soldiers during the Crimean war in the 1850’s. Mary Breckenridge was a pioneer in establishing nurse-midwifery and a system for providing care to those in rural areas. Mary Eliza Mahoney was the first African American woman to earn a nursing license. She championed women’s rights and was among the first women to register to vote in Boston in 1920. Loretta C. Ford is an influential nurse leader in history because of her role in co-founding the first nurse practitioner program. Come join us to learn more about these and other extraordinary women in nursing!
