RCC Professor Shamika Mitchell Co-Creates Comic-Con Museum Event

Pearl River Patch – In May, Shamika Mitchell, PhD, an RCC English Professor, was the co-creator of a San Diego Comic-Con Museum event featuring Alitha E. Martinez, a comic book artist best known for her work for Marvel Comics’s Iron Man and DC’s Batgirl. “San Diego Comic-Con and the Comic-Con Museum are wonderful institutions that are committed to building community and supporting fandom,” says Mitchell, who is a founding member of the museum. She has recently launched Joystick Angels, a new project on Kickstarter, is the editor for WinC Magazine which debuts this month, and is the lead editor for Rae Comics.

RCC Hosts Book Talk June 15th “I CAN Finish College: The Overcome Any Obstacle and Get Your Degree Guide.”

Hudson Valley News & Events – Rockland Community College will be hosting a virtual book talk from 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 15 with Dr. Marcia Cantarella, author of I CAN Finish College: The Overcome Any Obstacle and Get Your Degree Guide. Dr. Cantarella will be discussing learning techniques for completing college successfully and how her work with college students helped her to develop the breakthrough strategies that lead to success. Dr. Cantarella will be joined by Dr. Michael Baston, President of RCC, on the ZOOM presentation.

Hudson Valley News & Events – Rockland Community College announced today that Dr. Michael Baston, President, has been selected to join the Education Design Lab’s Designers in Residence program. As a part of the program, Dr. Baston will be building on identifying the jobs of the future and developing curriculums and career skill pathways that meet the needs of community and commerce partners, and continuing to develop the RCC initiative of Steps Beyond Statements to close equity gaps.
