This course is designed for the new motorcycle rider! The BRC course consists of approximately five hours of classroom and ten hours of on-cycle instruction, conducted over two or three sessions. Successful completion may serve as a license test waiver program in New York State, and a course completion card may provide a rider with an insurance discount.

Defensive Driving is essentially driving using safe driving strategies to enable motorists to address identified hazards predictably. These strategies go well beyond instruction on basic traffic laws and procedures. With defensive driving classes, students learn to improve their driving skills by reducing Driving risks, anticipating situations, and making safe, well-informed decisions. When completing a safe driving maneuver, such decisions are implemented based on the road and environmental conditions.
A Defensive Driving Course is a New York State Department of Motor Vehicles authorized course providing knowledge and techniques for the safe operation of a motor vehicle.

In order to fly your drone under the FAA’s Small UAS Rule (Part 107), you must obtain a Remote Pilot Certificate from the FAA. This certificate demonstrates that you understand the regulations, operating requirements, and procedures for safely flying drones. The course is self-paced but follows a progression of information with due dates to aid in completing the material in a timely manner.

The first step to understanding how to master the SAT Math section is to learn exactly what you’ll be tested on. The SAT Math section consists of three major topic areas: Heart of Algebra, Passport to Advanced Math, and Problem Solving and Data Analysis. These guides go over in detail the different content areas in the section as well as the types of math questions you’ll get and how to approach them.

The Reading and Writing section presents short reading passages (or passage pairs) followed by a single multiple-choice question. Questions in the Reading and Writing section represent one of four content domains—Craft and Structure, Information and Ideas, Standard English Conventions, and Expression of Ideas. To help you budget your time, questions that test similar skills and knowledge are grouped together and arranged from easiest to hardest.

The New York State Notary Public test will provide you with a comprehensive view of the Notary Public office. Confusing laws, concepts, and procedures will be clearly explained and clarified. Examples will be provided to illuminate situations that a Notary Public officer is likely to encounter. Topics include avoiding conflicts of interest, maintaining professional ethics, charging reasonable fees, handling exceptional cases, when to defer an attorney, and minimizing legal liability. This workshop is a must for Notary Public candidates to become fully aware of this office’s authority, duties, and responsibilities.

TEAS Preparatory class assists individuals studying to pass the TEAS exam. The 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course provides a convenient driver education option for new drivers seeking their first license. The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYSDMV) requires all new drivers to complete this training before scheduling an appointment for their road test. The New York State accident prevention course is part of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicle’s Point and Insurance Reduction Program. This course is designed to teach motorists driving strategies that help minimize risks associated with hazards on the road. In addition, this defensive driving course includes applicable New York state traffic laws that help drivers use safer driving techniques to avoid and prevent accidents. The defensive driving course allows you to reduce up to four points on your driving record and provides you with a mandatory 10% insurance reduction for 3 years.

Motorcycle Safety Program

- Anyone who possesses a NY State driver’s license and a valid NY State motorcycle permit is eligible for the Road Test Waiver upon successful completion of the BasicRider Course

- Course structure: approximately 1/3 classroom time and 2/3 riding time
Learn if motorcycle riding is for you through the MSF BasicRider Course. This is a 15-20 hour rider course. Your RiderCoaches are nationally certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). You will be learning basic skills like straight line riding, turning, shifting and stopping. Once accomplished, you will progress to cornering, swerving, advanced/emergency braking, speed selection and more. There will be both classroom time and riding course experience. Successfully completing the course entitles you to a DMV Motorcycle Road Test Waiver. This waiver is issued at the completion of the class. You are responsible for bringing the waiver to the DMV to receive your motorcycle endorsement, which will apply to your existing NYS Driver’s license.

- A current and valid MYS Motorcycle Permit (photocopies of both to be taken at class).

Security Guard Training Courses
Rockland Community College, an NYS DCJS certified security guard training school, offers the following NYS mandated security training courses. All courses are taught by certified instructors.
8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training for Security Guards
This is an 8-hour course required by New York State as the first step in obtaining a security guard registration card from the New York State Department of State. The course provides the student with a general overview of the duties and responsibilities of a security guard. Topics covered in this course include the role of the security guard, legal powers and limitations, emergency situations, communications and public relations, access control, and ethics and conduct. - Courses divided between two days, student will receive a 50% refund if requested before start of second day.
- Courses divided into four sessions, the refund schedule shall be 75%, 50%, and 25%.
- A security guard training school cannot assess any non-refundable registration fees, cancellation fees, or deposits.
