Art, Memory, and Resilience: The Work of Doris Salcedo
October 14 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm EDT
Join Professor Eileen Macavery for a presentation on Doris Salcedo, one of Colombia’s most significant contemporary artists. Through sculpture and installation, Salcedo transforms ordinary objects and architectural spaces into powerful reflections on memory, loss, displacement, immigration, and political violence.
The presentation will explore Salcedo’s landmark installation of Shibboleth and consider how contemporary art can challenge ideas of borders, exclusion, belonging, and who is allowed to enter or feel at home in a space.
Location: Academic I, Room 1310
