Eric Dranoff – RCC’s Champion
Eric was more than a vibrant member of the Rockland Community College community, his kindness, leadership, dedication and generosity of time and expert guidance permanently uplifted RCC as an institution, and positively impacted countless RCC students.
Eric was a volunteer for more than 15 years on the RCC Foundation Board, and worked with the RCC leadership providing legal advice and strategic direction. His intelligent guidance was always presented with graciousness, integrity and alacrity.
Eric was a rare and beautiful force in this world. His love of family, music, Rockland County and our students was apparent in everything he did. His generous nature was reflected in his initiating and funding two scholarships in honor of his mother and father. In addition, he would fund other RCC students in need. Susan Lyddon, V.P. Institutional Advancement, witnessed how Eric changed one of many lives for the better:
“I was out to dinner with Eric, and a young waitress skipped up to us and gave him a bear hug. She introduced herself to me as a proud RCC alumna and told me that Eric was her mentor. He had covered the cost of her tuition and books at RCC, and he was putting her through college at her 4-year school. Her plan was to continue to medical school and make him proud.”
In Honor of Eric, The RCC Foundation has established The Eric Dranoff Scholarship – A Scholarship of Hope and Light. The scholarship will support an RCC student with a passion for community service and the arts, on an educational path to pursue a professional career.
