Rockland County, NY (January 10, 2025) – The Rockland Community College (RCC) Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Dr. Scott J. Kalicki as Officer in Charge, effective Monday, January 13. Dr. Kalicki will take over the position after the current Office in Charge, Dr. Beth A. Coyle, retires. Dr. Coyle has been serving as Officer in Charge since June of 2024. This leadership transition will pave the way for Dr. William P. Mullaney to assume the position as RCC’s 9th president in June 2025. The appointment of Dr. Kalicki was approved by the RCC Board of Trustees at their meeting on Tuesday, January 7.
Dr. Kalicki brings over 40 years of leadership experience in higher education to his role as Officer in Charge at RCC, having served as president or interim president at three community colleges and in key administrative roles at two- and four-year institutions. A SUNY Albany alumnus with a Ph.D. in Educational Administration, Dr. Kalicki is also an active educator and currently teaches graduate programs online. Beyond academia, he has contributed to national and state commissions and is deeply committed to community service, having led and volunteered with organizations like Gilda’s Club, Special Olympics, and CASA.
“It is both an honor and a privilege to join Rockland Community College,” said Dr. Kalicki. “I am eager to engage with the faculty, staff, students, and community, and I look forward to learning from and collaborating with each of them during this transition period.”
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Coyle for her unwavering dedication and commitment to Rockland Community College, not just over the past six months but throughout her tenure as Vice President of Operations from 2018 to 2023,” said L’Tanya M. Watkins, Esq., Chair of the RCC Board of Trustees. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Kalicki to the campus and are confident in his ability to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for all.”
