T.H.R.I.V.E. Initiative: Access Granted: Welcome to Inclusive Thinking

February 12 @ 12:30 pm - 1:15 pm EST

Location: Academic II, Room 2209

The T.H.R.I.V.E. Initiative is a comprehensive student Training program designed to foster Health, Resilience, Inclusion, Vibrancy, and Empowerment within the RCC community. Through a series of interactive sessions, students will engage in critical discussions and skill-building exercises aimed at equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate various challenges they may encounter during their college years and beyond.

In this session, students will learn why digital accessibility and disability awareness matter and how they help create learning spaces that work for everyone. The discussion will include topics such as different types of disabilities and common barriers students may experience in digital environments. Students will also learn basic accessibility guidelines and be introduced to simple tools they will be expected to use for their courses, such as captions, readable documents, and accessible online materials. The session focuses on practical tips students can use right away for school and beyond.

Presenter: Talia Lipton, Associate Professor, Rockland Community College
