Mt. Vernon City School District Expands Auto Program

News 12 Westchester – The Mount Vernon City School District is expanding opportunities for students interested in the auto industry. Students at the district’s new alternative high school, Rebecca Turner Academy, will now get access to a partnership with Ford and Rockland Community College that aims to get kids high-paying jobs right out of high school.

RCC Receives $933K to Address Manufacturing Workforce Shortages

Campus News – Rockland Community College (RCC) has received a grant for $933 thousand awarded by the Empire State’s Office of Strategic Workforce Development (OSWD). Last week, Governor Kathy Hochul announced OSWD’s fourth round of grant awards, totaling more than $12 million for 15 projects that will train more than 2,000 workers across New York State for over 100 business partners.

RCC Hires New President

WRCR AM 1700 – Rockland Community College has a new president. Dr. Lester Edgardo Sandres Rápalo became just the eighth president in the College’s 64-year history. Prior to joining RCC, Dr. Rápalo was Vice President for Academic Affairs at Bronx Community College. He formally started his new position on July 1st.
