Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Islam and Judaism

April 23 @ 10:00 am - 10:45 am EDT

Location: Ellipse (Technology Center, Room 8180)
Hosted by: Professor Eileen MacAvery Kane and the ART 22300 Graphic Design Class

Join us for a powerful student-led showcase and panel discussion highlighting original graphic design videos that raise awareness about antisemitism and Islamophobia. Presented by ART 22300 Graphic Design – Project 3: Social Justice Warrior, this event is the culmination of a service-learning collaboration with the Steps Beyond Statements initiative.

Students in ART 22300 have explored the histories, beliefs, and cultural expressions of Islam and Judaism—identifying shared values while addressing harmful stereotypes and societal challenges faced by both communities.

In this event, three student groups will premiere short awareness videos that visually communicate themes such as unity, interfaith dialogue, and standing against hate. Following the screenings, the student creators will lead a panel discussion to reflect on their research, design choices, and personal takeaways from the project.

This session invites dialogue, critical thinking, and a shared commitment to fostering understanding, respect, and solidarity across differences.
