What Is ASAP?

Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP) removes financial barriers to full-time study, provides structured pathways to help students gain and maintain academic momentum, and creates connected communities through integrated support and engagement activities.

ASAP Eligibility Requirements

All Students Must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen (NYS DREAM Act students also eligible)
  • Be eligible for in-state tuition
  • Enroll full-time in an ASAP degree program (minimum 12 credits per semester)
  • Complete a FAFSA and NYS TAP Application every year and accept all federal and state grant aid offered
  • Be Pell eligible and receive $1 of Pell aid at point of enrollment (students in the process of completing financial aid may be conditionally accepted into the program) (* For Fall 2024, students are not required to be in receipt of Pell but must be in receipt of at least $1 of federal or state financial aid.)
  • Agree to participate in required program activities
  • Students must take any required remedial courses immediately upon enrollment
  • Students must have previously earned no more than 21 credits applicable to their proposed program of study (excluding any earned while in high school) and hold a minimum 2.0 GPA
Financial Aid

All ASAP students (U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents) must complete the FAFSA and TAP application each year and accept any federal and state grant aid awarded (Pell, SEOG, TAP). 

The New York State Dream Act helps students receive state aid, including TAP, Excelsior, and other state-administered scholarships. Visit www.hesc.ny.gov/dream for eligibility and to apply.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a student enrolled in EOP or TRiO participate in ASAP?
At this time, Rockland ASAP students may not be enrolled in EOP or TRIO. Check back for updates to this query or reach out to our ASAP Director for more information.
If a SUNY campus, due to its geographic location, charges the in-state tuition rate for out-of-state students, will those out-of-state students be eligible for ASAP?
Although rare, out-of-state students who pay the in-state tuition rate per campus policy due to geographic proximity are eligible for ASAP.
Can the cost of attendance award be used to pay for a student’s tuition at another SUNY campus through a cross-registration agreement?
Yes, the cost of attendance award may be used for ASAP students who cross-register across SUNY. Speak with your Advisor for more details.
Are NYS Dream Act or Dream.US students eligible for ASAP?
Yes, students who meet the requirements for either of these scholarships are eligible to participate.
Does ASAP accept only certain major?
All majors are eligible and encouraged to apply.
