Rockland Community College one of only three colleges nationwide selected for pilot program

Hudson Valley News & Events – The National Council for Workforce Education (NCWE) announced on July 14th that Rockland Community College has been selected as one of three schools nationwide to receive $210,000 to develop and launch Money Smart Financial Coaching Program, a financial coaching program to improve their students’ financial health and increase their graduation rates. The program is expanding nationally through a $2.5 million investment from JPMorgan Chase.

Rockland Community College’s Professor of English Presenting at Comic Con in San Diego

Hudson Valley News & Events – Shamika Mitchell, professor of English at Rockland Community College, and founding member of the San Diego Comic Con Museum, will participate in three panels at Comic-Con in San Diego, CA, July 21-24, 2022. It is the first in-person event since 2019.

RCC First College in New York State to Participate in Intel Corp’s AI for Workforce Program

Hudson Valley News & Events – Last January, the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), Dell Technologies and Intel announced a joint commitment to grow Intel’s AI for Workforce Program from 18 states to 50 by 2023. Rockland Community College was one of 15 colleges across the country to be awarded $40K for an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Incubator Network project.

Baston has accepted a new position as President of Cuyahoga Community College located in Cleveland, Ohio and will be stepping down from his position as RCC president in July 2022.
