Dancing Around the Drum: Irish Traditional Music and Puerto Rican Plean

This concert explores the liminal spaces between Irish traditional music and Puerto Rican plena that continue on these respective islands. These unique traditions have inspired blended compositions drawing from Puerto Rican and Irish music that will be performed by renowned musicians from Puerto Rico including Jorge Vasquez (drum kit, congas, pandeiros, voice), Dylan James (fiddle/banjo) and ethnomusicologist and performer Colin Harte on (voice/piano/bodhran) amongst others.
