Approved by the Board of Trustees of SUNY Rockland Community College on April 28, 2025.
A late withdrawal is a request to withdraw from a course after the published deadline. After the deadline to withdraw voluntarily from courses, students may petition for a late withdrawal, if documented circumstances beyond their control prevent them from completing a course. The Chief Academic Officer will only consider late withdrawal requests that are filed in compliance with the procedures and are complete. Late withdrawals will be granted in extenuating circumstances. Reasons not listed on the Late Withdrawal Form, e.g. grade dissatisfaction, will not be considered. The decision of the Chief Academic Officer will be final.
The time periods for late withdrawal are stated on the Late Withdrawal Request form. All late withdrawal requests must:
- Be submitted in writing to the Chief Academic Officer;
- Include supporting documentation indicating extenuating circumstances;
- Include Late Withdrawal Request form;
- Be approved by the faculty of record;
Approval of a late withdrawal will result in a W (Withdrawal) on the student’s record, but no refund will be issued.
