Off-Campus Housing Option

Rockland Community College is pleased to offer full-time students an off-campus housing option with shuttle service at St Thomas Aquinas College-STAC (10 miles away) in Sparkill, NY for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Housing Eligibility Requirements

  • All students must take at least 9 credits of their full-time enrollment at RCC in person throughout the semester.
    • Student seeking to withdraw from an in-person class must email [email protected] for the appropriate approval before completing this step. Failure to comply can result in being removed from housing at the student’s expense.
  • Students are only permitted to take classes at RCC.
  • Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credits minimum) before applying.
  • Students must remain in good academic standing (2.0 GPA minimum; not applicable to first-time new students)
  • Students must be in good judicial standing (low-level incidents at a minimum to be determined by Judicial Affairs; not applicable to first-time new students).
  • Students must attend the mandatory housing meeting/orientation which will occur at the beginning of the semester.
  • Students must have their RCC email set up before applying as all communication will be sent to your RCC email
  • Students are required to set up/check their RCC and STAC email for housing info/updates frequently.
    • RCC students are issued a STAC email for correspondence with the STAC administration
  • Students must agree to abide by all STAC and RCC policies and procedures.

Standard Unit-Triple Occupancy Room Only. There are no single or double rooms available.

Registered students in the STAC-RCC Housing Partnership are required to pay the per-semester rate of $6,800 for housing and meal plan, which includes a special STAC-RCC Housing grant of $1,170 per semester to help students afford the full $7,970 per semester approximate normal housing/meal plan. Once approved for housing, the charges will be placed on your RCC student account.

There is a $2,000 fee for breaking the housing contract. Students who live on campus are required to live on campus for both the fall and spring semesters.

RCC is not responsible to provide housing up until the prescribed move-in date which will be provided over the summer before moving in. RCC is also not responsible for providing housing after the semester ends. Please plan accordingly. Info about move-in will be sent at a later date. All info will go to your RCC account only.

There will be a professional Residence Hall Director and student Resident Assistants living onsite at STAC to serve as a resource for the RCC students living there. The Residence Life Staff will be accessible 24/7.

Residence Hall Director (RHD or RD) – A professional staff member that’s already graduated from college. The RD is generally responsible for the management and daily operations of campus residence halls. The RD ensures all housing and school policies are followed. The RD also resides on campus. The RD reports to the Assistant Director or Residence Life who reports to the Director.

Resident Assistant (RA) – A student leader that attends classes at the college and works for the Office of Residence Life. The RA is there 24/7 to assist their peers on their floor, in their suite, or building as needed. The RA reports to the RD.

Students in this program will be eligible for the following services on the campus of St. Thomas Aquinas College:

  • Library Facilities (cannot check out items)
  • Krause Fitness Center
  • Student Organizations
  • Student Activities Events
  • Special Events and Campus Programs Designed for RCC Students
  • Van Shuttle Service (STAC to RCC and RCC to STAC)

Students registered in this program will be required to obtain a STAC student ID and parking pass (if applicable). Both will be supplied by St. Thomas Aquinas College at the time of move-in on campus. Students will also be provided a St. Thomas Aquinas College email address to ensure timely communication and access to services.

Please review the Fall 24 schedule before registering for Fall courses.

Free shuttle service from STAC to RCC will be provided on specific days/times. The shuttle will be in place to help students get to and from STAC-RCC for classes. Students are encouraged to set their classes around the shuttle times.

*Note: the shuttle is set to accommodate classes only. Extracurricular activities including jobs are done at the discretion of the students.

McNelis Commons

The McNelis Commons (known as The Commons) are clusters of suite-style rooms located around a central, shared living space. The Commons feature a laundry facility and the campus dining hall.

All rooms are equipped with a twin XL bed with dresser draws, desk, chair, closet, and a shared bathroom.

Students that are approved to live on campus will be sent a list of suggested items to bring and to keep home. This will be included in their welcome letter that will be sent to their RCC email over the summer.

Your housing agreement includes your 200 Block with 200 points meal plan. This plan includes 200 meals to be utilized throughout the semester in the McNelis Commons Dining Hall (buffet style) plus 200 points per semester which can be used at the Spartan Grille (a la carte, used similar to a debit card) located on the lower level of the Romano Student Alumni Center. Unused blocks and points will not be refunded.

The meal plan can only be used at St. Thomas Aquinas College.

All students are required to have a meal plan to live on campus. This is included in the cost and cannot be removed.

Please complete both forms below. You will receive an email confirmation from the RCC Housing email confirming your submission. The confirmation does not guarantee housing.

Once you are approved, you will be informed via your RCC email. You will receive your Welcome Letter including a list of suggested items to bring, information regarding when you can move in, and your roommate’s information to your RCC email.

The deadline to apply for housing is August 20, 2024, at 5 p.m.
