The objectives of this chapter/club is to promote the science of chemistry in and around the SUNY Rockland community college. Computer Science Club

The Computer Science club is a group of students who share their interest in the computer science field. We encourage growth and learning in creating projects together, teaching and helping students of all skill levels, and preparing for future jobs. Guest speakers are invited once or twice per semester in order to give members insight into the vast field of computer science, and help guide members on how to continue their path and prepare for a career in computer science.

Cyber Security Club

Our main purpose is to develop and encourage computer security awareness and application by providing students with the tools and education they need to advance their computer security careers. To accomplish this goal, we organize community outreach programs about security related topics, host tech talks and guest speakers and participate in security related competitions and conventions. We hope to increase the overall knowledge of all SUNY Rockland Community College students in an effort to help them be better prepared to protect themselves.

The Mission and Purpose of the Club is to provide students with a forum to generate and discuss business ideas, learn how small businesses are formed and how they raise funds in the beginning start-up cycle. Hillel

Honors Newsletter Club

The Honors Newsletter Club looks to educate both the RCC community and the Rockland County community about the Sam Draper Honors Program and its many students. By learning more about the Sam Draper Honors Program, we hope that more students feel inspired to join. By joining the Honors Newsletter club, students will have the opportunity to advance their creativity, photography, writing, graphic design, and gain greater leadership skills.

Purpose of the Rockland Community College PA Support Group: RCCPA

Poetry Club

Poetry Club is an inclusive space for anyone interested in poetry! Poetry is for everyone, and our meetings entail the sharing of original poetry as well as poets and music that we like. We encourage dialogue, collaboration, and creativity. We also host a variety of special events. Come join us!

Robotics Club

SUNY Rockland Robotics is a welcoming space where RCC students come together to engineer, design, program, promote, and fund robotic solutions for real-world community challenges. Each semester, the team identifies a specific problem, then dedicates their efforts to developing a sustainable and impactful robotic solution by the end of the term. engineering and electronics play a key role in bringing these innovative projects to life.

Social Psyche

The goal of the Social Psyche club is to provide an engaging, educational, and riveting perspective on psychology, sociology, and the implications of said subjects. The experience within the club will be primarily curated by the student members and will focus on a variety of different topics within the world of psychology. Somos El Futuro

Somos el Futuro (We are the Future) focuses on empowering Hispanic and Latino students by providing them with resources, support, and opportunities to excel academically. It aims to address the unique challenges and barriers faced by students, such as language barriers, financial constraints, and limited access to educational resources. The program offers a range of services and activities, which may include academic tutoring, college and career counseling, and cultural enrichment programs. By providing these resources and support, Somos el Futuro’s goal is to improve college enrollment and completion rates, and ultimately enhance opportunities for success in college and beyond. Sustainability Club

Our mission will be to help make the world a better place by spreading awareness of the UN’s 17 Goals Sustainable Development plan. We achieve this by actively engaging on and off RCC campus, encouraging others to do their part, and providing help wherever it may be needed.

Teachers of Tomorrow

The Teachers of Tomorrow Club will extend opportunities in sharing the experiences and ideas with like-minded peers by participating in interesting and fun activities, including field trips or storytelling with the children at the on-campus child care center. Students may volunteer at club-hosted conferences with community organizations devoted to early childhood, childhood educations and adolescent education settings. They may conduct fundraisers for child care needs, and attend professional development conferences tin teacher education.

Student Government Association (SGA)

The Student Government Association (SGA) is a group of dedicated student leaders that represents and expresses the needs of all students so their college experience achieves the optimum balance between education and involvement. We ensure that RCC students’ needs and concerns are met. This body oversees student activities fees that are allocated to various clubs and events on campus. The SGA is composed of 5 Executive Board members, 10 Sophomore Senators, and 10 Freshman Senators.

Mission Statement
The Student Government Association of Rockland Community College is determined to advocate for the student body, representing the voice of the student’s academic needs. As student leaders, the Student Government Association will seek to involve its peers in some form of extracurricular activities with the ultimate goal of enhancing their college experience and instilling more school spirit. We feel that by encouraging student involvement, it will assist the entire College in working toward the common goal of making our school even better than what it is today.

Student Activities Board (SAB)

Our mission…

The Student Activities Board (SAB) is a committed student-led college programming organization responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and hosting various social, cultural, educational and entertainment events on and off campus. In addition, SAB oversees all student clubs and organizations and acts as their liaison with the Student Government Association (SGA). SAB provides a resource that encourages organization, communication, friendship, and leadership.

Leadership Programs

Eleanor’s Community College Emerging Leaders (ECCEL) Program is an intensive leadership and service based program hosted at the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill. This program is partnered with four community colleges in the lower Hudson Valley area: Dutchess Community College, Orange County Community College, Ulster County Community College, and Rockland Community College. A maximum of 9 students from each community college each year are selected for this opportunity. ECCEL prepares students to lead in all aspects of their lives – personal, academic, professional and community. With a focus on self-discovery, skill development, experiential learning and global citizenship, the program will contribute significantly to students’ academic achievement and workforce success and prepare them to lead in a global society. Students complete 3 weekend retreats, a networking dinner and workshop, and a community impact project at each institution. Students accepted into ECCEL become Louis B. Greenspan Scholars and receive special certificates of completion in June at the programs close.

Honors Societies

Business leaders know the value of serving others. RCC’s chapter of Alpha Beta Gamma, the business honor society, has embraced that credo. Club members volunteer for community events like the Good Samaritan Blood Drive, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk, Walk for Domestic Abuse, and a toy drive for underprivileged kids. They expand their knowledge of the corporate world with visits to places like the Museum of American Finance on Wall Street. Guest speakers from the local business community offer first-hand insights and advice.

Beta Beta Beta provides opportunities for students to develop their interests in the wide-ranging field of biology. Members are encouraged to participate in research activities and have presented their findings at such recognized events as the SUNY Innovative Exploration Forum and the Beta Beta Beta NE-1 District Convention. Members also select their own field trips and community events, such as the Body World Exhibition in NYC, Earth Day events, and various hikes in Rockland County. At meetings, club members read and discuss scholarly journals in various biological topics and complete research experiments.

International honor society founded in 1911. Membership exceeds 1.2 million worldwide.

Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two-year colleges. Take advantage of many rewarding opportunities on campus and in the community for PTK members. The PTK induction ceremony for new members is in late April. Come to our Fall and Spring information sessions and learn more. Eligibility requirements include a minimum 3.6 GPA and 12 credits earned with no incomplete grades.

The Sigma Chi Eta Speech Communication honor society offers a forum to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication. Students explore transfer and career options. Recent activities include theater presentations, symposia, panel discussions and visits by guest speakers. New members are inducted each Spring.
